Possible Dust Clouds

#ad
Fire Records #ad - Imagine truly buying your own sunshine and charm, but also your darkness and violence; the two sides of your psychology showing each other off in relief. A highly personalised sociopathic gem delivered as a futuristic rewriting of how music works, a melodious breeze with a tail wind of venomous din. Sometimes the most subversive thing i can do musically is adhere to standard song structure, sometimes the creepiest chords are the ones we ve heard before, twisted into different shapes, and sometimes a story is lived a thousand times before we can ride it like a roller coaster.

A ten-track album, her tenth studio set. Songs can do that. We can t, really. Nothing wholly unfamiliar is gonna make you look twice. When you can describe a record as being deceptively anything, you re hinting at the sociopathic nature of music. Darkness we ve seen. Feedback and phasing gyrate from simply strummed normality, imagine Dinosaur Jr and My Bloody Valentine cranking up a Dylan couplet.

Possible Dust Clouds #ad - Enveloping the juxtaposition of the concept of dark sunshine, a brooding solo record creating with friends to expand her off-kilter sonic vision; a squally, squeaky mix of discordant beauty. Messing with both extremes of the sonic spectrum: atonal and arrhythmic, a unique sound and a glorious return to form for one of alternative rock s true innovators.

Wanderer

#ad
Domino Recording Co. #ad - Produced by marshall and mixed by rob schnapf elliott Smith, the album includes appearances by longtime friends and compatriots, Beck, as well as guest vocals courtesy of friend and recent tourmate Lana Del Rey. In the six years since the release of 2012’s Sun, given birth to a child, Marshall has travelled the world, and parted ways with her previous record label.

Under the musical nom de plume of cat power, a producer, Marshall has released music for nearly 25 years now and her prowess as a songwriter, and most notably—as a voice—has only grown more influential with time. Even though it was, in many ways, a period of profound upheaval and radical change, those experiences resulted in a record that is arguably the most assured artistic statement of her career.

Wanderer #ad - Shrink-wrapped. Wanderer is, a quintessential cat power record, in many ways, with Marshall’s clarion voice front and center in a set of songs that remarkably stark and straightforward. But, at its heart, wanderer is, if old cat power records might easily have been viewed as repositories for pain, redemptions, an album-length imagining of alternate paths, a testament to the transformative nature of songs, connections, and open-ended possibility.

Wanderer, cat power’s stunning 10th studio album, marks a pivotal moment in both Chan Marshall’s life and her career. There are few voices more deeply embedded in the iconography and mythology of American indie rock than that of Chan Marshall.

Sunshine Rock

#ad
Merge Records #ad - 2019 release. Shrink-wrapped. The theme, the cathartic vocals, grabbiest album since Copper Blue, and the strings all amount to Mould's catchiest, the acclaimed 1992 debut of his trio Sugar. Shrink-wrapped. Sunshine rock follows the 2016 release of patch the sky, which was hailed by Rolling Stone as "conjuring the ecstatic rage of his earlier bands for a grim new era" and as "tight, sharp musings on aging, fizzled relationships and death that are melodic enough to sound like songs of victory" by the New York Times.

Sunshine rock finds him doing it again for an era that has ostensibly eschewed rock. Patch the sky completed a trilogy including it's 2014 predecessor Beauty & Ruin and 2012's Silver Age. Shrink-wrapped. It comes from a more personal place-a place found in Berlin, Germany, where he's spent the majority of the last three years.

Sunshine Rock #ad - Back then, mould's work in hüsker dü, as a solo artist, and in Sugar helped define the sound of guitar rock in the alternative age. Here, mould would draw inspiration from the new environments. Ever-evolving artist bob mould-whose face belongs on the Mount Rushmore of alternative music-decided to "write to the sunshine, " as he describes it, not because he likes the current administration.

Remind Me Tomorrow

#ad
JAGJAGUWAR #ad - I feel like a mess, but I'm here. Shrink-wrapped. In the four years since are we there, van etten guest-starred in the oa, and wrote her first film score and song for TV - for Kathering Dieckmann's Strange Weather Tig Notaro's show Tig, performed in David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival, respectively.2019 release.

Shrink-wrapped. Originally a piano ballad, "Comeback Kid" evolved into a dark, menacing anthem. Doing it. Shrink-wrapped. Van etten also had a child, and began studying psychology. Working with producer john Congleton, Remind Me Tomorrow reveals piano keys that churn, deep drones, distinctive sharp drums. This record is about pursuing your passions.

Remind Me Tomorrow #ad - This is remind me tomorrow, fusing a pained attentive realism and radiant lightness about new loves. The breadth of van etten's new passions have inflected Remind Me Tomorrow with a wise, warped-time perspective. In the scraps of hours between these endeavors, Remind Me Tomorrow was born. Seventeen" began as a lucinda Williams-esque dirge, but winds up a star-spangled nod to Springsteen, exploring gentrification and generational patience.

Shrink-wrapped. She explains, go to school, i have a stain on my shirt, but yeah, an actress, a singer, "I want to be a mom, oatmeal in my hair.

Dionysus

#ad
Pias America #ad - Their forthcoming album took shape as Brendan Perry became fascinated by long established spring and harvest festivals that had their origins in Dionysian religious practices throughout Europe. Shrink-wrapped. Perry blends all of the album's elements together using field recordings and chanting, beehive's from New Zealand, including a goatherd in Switzerland, and bird calls from Mexico and Brazil.

Shrink-wrapped. Perry uses this not only to invoke the album's atmosphere and symbolic references but also to demonstrate how music can be found everywhere. Shrink-wrapped. As with the rest of the dead can dance catalogue, rhythms inspired by world traditions play a key role, with tracks seeming less like songs and more like fragments of a cohesive whole.

Dionysus #ad - The album's seven movements, in the form of an oratorio, represent different facets of the Dionysus myth and his cult. On dionysus, atmospheric, sounds blend into one another to create an esoteric, at times magical realist experience for the listener. Dionysus brings to the fore the rites and rituals that today continue to be informed by the Greek god.

Shrink-wrapped. Since their inception in melbourne in 1981, not just solely in terms of instrumentation, but also by secular, Dead Can Dance have been informed by folk traditions from all over Europe, religious and spiritual practices. Shrink-wrapped.

These Times

#ad
Anti/Epitaph #ad - So, what’s it all about? founder and singer/guitarist/songwriter Steve Wynn says, “These Times. That’s it. Shrink-wrapped. With that reintroduction and a full year of touring behind them, the Dream Syndicate had the freedom to take it all somewhere new, to dig a little deeper, get outside of themselves a little bit.

Shrink-wrapped. This 21st century version of the dream syndicate released How Did I Find Myself Here in 2017 to universal acclaim, no small feat for a band reuniting after almost three decades. Their new album ‘these times’ feels like a late-night radio show that you might have heard as a kid, drifting off into dreams and wondering the next morning if any of it was real.

Shrink-wrapped. It’s all we’re talking about, all we’re thinking about. Shrink-wrapped. So, what does it sound like? if how did i find myself here was a 10 pm record, moodier and more mercurial, the band acting as DJs of their own overnight radio station, all swagger and cathartic explosion, then These Times is the 2 am sibling, riffing on an idea of what a Dream Syndicate album could be at this moment in time.

These Times #ad - There was the band with revolving lineups that existed from 1982 to 1988 and made four albums including The Days of Wine and Roses and have influenced bands and delighted fans in the years since. And then there’s the band that reunited in 2012 and is closing in on its seventh year with nary a lineup change.

It seems like a lie to not address or reflect the things that we can’t stop thinking about—the whole world’s watching indeed.

I Am Easy To Find

#ad
4AD #ad - On september 3, 2017, director mike mills emailed matt berninger to introduce himself and in very short order, the most ambitious project of the National’s nearly 20-year career was born and plans for a hard-earned vacation died. Mills, is credited as co-producer of the album, ny with vocal contributions from Sharon Van Etten, Brooklyn Youth Chorus, Lisa Hannigan, which was recorded at Long Pond, along with the band, Hudson Valley, Mina Tindle and more.

The two projects are, “playfully hostile siblings that love to steal from each other”—they share music and words and DNA and impulses and a vision about what it means to be human in 2019, as Mills calls them, but don’t necessarily need one another. The result is i am easy to find, a 24-minute film by Mills starring Alicia Vikander, and I Am Easy to Find, a 68-minute album by the National.

I Am Easy To Find #ad - The movie was composed like a piece of music; the music was assembled like a film, by a film director. Berninger, not only agreed to collaborate, already a fan of Mills’ films, he essentially handed over the keys to the band’s creative process. The former is not the video for the latter; the latter is not the soundtrack to the former.

A video maybe. The frontman and natural focal point was deliberately and dramatically side staged in favor of a variety of female voices, nearly all of whom have long been in the group’s orbit. Shrink-wrapped. The national- I Am Easy To Find.

It's Real

#ad
Merge Records B07MC41MVJ #ad - Shrink-wrapped. Vocal harmonies are layered ten tracks deep, solos shimmer and modulate atop heaving power chords, and the codas linger and stretch toward new frontiers of sound. Shrink-wrapped. On first listen, you might think you've unearthed a long-lost LP carved from the space where crunch-minded art rock and glitter-covered hard rock converge, an event horizon at the intersection of towering choruses and swaggering guitars.

Shrink-wrapped. Ex hex- it's Real. Shrink-wrapped. The national- I Am Easy To Find. On it's real, but the garage-y, ex hex's commitment to larger-than-life riffs and unforgettable hooks remains intact, the group's second album, post-punk approach that defined their debut album Rips has grown in scale and ambition.

It's Real #ad - 2019 release from the alt-rock outfit. Ex hex were already one of america's best guitar bands-but on It's Real, their musical savvy has thrillingly combined with anything-goes curiosity, and a dedication to refinement, studio experimentation, resulting in an album that's ready to be played at maximum volume.

Shrink-wrapped. Shrink-wrapped. What started as a reaction to the blown-out aesthetic of Rips would test the sonic limits of the power trio and lead the band on a quest for a more immersive and three-dimensional sound.
